How it works
This 3D printing cost calculator turns the numbers already in your slicer into a real 3D print pricing figure. It adds up what the print actually costs you (filament cost, electricity, machine wear, and labor), builds in an allowance for failed prints, then works backward from your target margin and marketplace fees to a price you can charge a customer.
Filament used (grams) divided by spool weight, multiplied by spool price. This is the cost of the plastic that ends up in the finished part.
Electricity is your printer's average wattage converted to kWh, multiplied by print time and your electricity rate. Machine wear spreads the printer's purchase price across its expected lifespan in hours, so every print carries a small share of what the machine itself cost.
Material, electricity, machine wear, and labor are added up, then divided by (1 − failure rate). A 10% failure rate means roughly 1 in 10 prints fails, so the successful prints need to cover the cost of the failed ones too.
Active labor time (setup, bed leveling, removing supports, finishing) multiplied by your hourly rate, plus any packaging or other per-job overhead you enter directly.
If you sell through a marketplace or payment processor that takes a percentage plus a fixed fee, the calculator solves for a price where, after that fee is deducted, your target margin still holds, rather than just adding the fee on top.
Margin is profit as a share of the price you charge; markup is profit as a share of what the job cost you. A 50% margin and a 50% markup are not the same price. This calculator prices to your target margin, and shows the resulting markup for reference.
Getting the inputs
After slicing the model, most slicers show an estimated filament weight and print time on the preview screen. Copy the filament grams and print time (hours and minutes) into the calculator as-is. There is no need to round or convert anything.

Start with the slicer estimate. It is usually close enough for pricing. If you consistently see longer real print times on your printer, use your own average instead.
Track your reject rate over your next 10 to 20 prints for a given material or printer and use that. Many sellers start around 5 to 10% and adjust once they have real data.
